About the Project

The S4U project experiments with and further develops platforms and tools specifically aimed at young people, based on knowledge about young people's digital behavior and preferences. This will include elements recognisable from games, simulations, and scenarios.

S4U uses large ongoing planning matters to:

  • develop and experiment with new practices in municipal climate work that promote involvement and democratic co-governance.

  • develop new educational programs that promote participation-oriented democracy education as part of the interdisciplinary theme of democracy and citizenship for students in the school years 8-10.

  • dxperiment and prototype new platforms and tools that promote co-creation through scenarios, simulations, conversations, and game elements.

S4U builds knowledge about the organisational and managerial prerequisites for municipal employees to work co-creatively, and what is necessary to support elected officials in taking a more interactive role in democratic co-creation.

The project can lead to democratic innovation in addressing climate challenges and provide municipalities with experience in experimenting with new methods and working approaches in future planning and development projects; testing new organisation and use of tools adapted to the municipality's practices, as well as new utilisation of formal and informal venues where young people participate.

Podcast

Collaboration

The project is a collaboration between Insam, CICERO, Lillestrøm and Drammen municipalities, Fynd Reality, Spire, and Include.

The area development at Strømsø is the case in Drammen. Both Drammen Library and Marienlyst Secondary School are in close proximity and will be venues.

A mobility strategy focusing on young people's mobility and needs at Skedsmokorset is the case in Lillestrøm, with Tæruddalen School and Skedsmokorset Library being venues.
