"Partnering for a Better Future: how can Norway´s next generation of leaders help to improve the world?" is the title of the dialoge between Bill Gates, rector Ole Petter Ottersen and Norway's Minister of Health, Bent Høie. The event will take place on November 15th at the University of Oslo.

Renzo Guinto, Waruguru Wanjau, Nilofer Khan Habibullah and Usman Mushtaq are members of The Lancet-UiO Youth Commission. They participated as speakers and workshop organizers during the "Global Health - Beyond 2015" conference in Stockholm on April 4 and 5. The conference was organized by the Swedish Society of Medicine. What follows is their reflections about the conference.

Since the intensive work meeting in Bellagio in February, the Commission report has progressed by leaps and bounds in time for the final meeting of the full Commission.

Members of The Lancet - UiO Commission gathered for a work-session at The Rockefeller Foundation Centre in Bellagio 4-8 February. The purpose of the session was to advance the work on the Commission report which will be published by The Lancet in September.

At the Commission’s 3rd meeting in New Delhi, 9-10 November, the very first draft of the Commission report was discussed. The working title is “Harnessing global forces for health”. The title captures the Commission’s wish to capitalize on opportunities in addition to channeling the challenges of global governance for health.

For the third Commission meeting, the Vice-Chair, Ms Jashodhara Dasgupta, invited the Commission to New Delhi. A pre-commission meeting seminar gave the Commission the opportunity to engage in thought-provoking discussions on people’s responses to global governance challenges with voices from India’s strong civil society, academia and government. The Indian perspectives and experiences helped to further ground the Commission’s discussions.

The 2nd Commission meeting took place in Arusha in Tanzania 3-5 July 2012. Out of 18 Commission members, no less than 17 took part in the deliberations which contributed to shape the direction of the final Commission report. Members of the Youth Commission and the Resource Group were also present to support the progress of the meeting.
