The Youth Commission meets in Kuala Lumpur

The first in-person meeting of The Lancet-University of Oslo Youth Commission will take place in Kuala Lumpur 25 – 27 January 2013

Members of the Youth Commission

The Youth Commission was established to facilitate the involvement of students and young professionals in the work of The Lancet – UiO Commission on Global Governance for Health. Their tasks are to carry out an independent assessment of global governance for health, and to serve as an advisory group to the “adult” commission.

At the meeting in Kuala Lumpur, the youths will take stock of how far they've gotten in their work and several fundamental questions for global governance for health (GG4H) will be discussed. Some of the topics on the agenda are:

  • The current state of global governance for health – What are the major problems?
  • The relationship between international politics, economics, law and health
  • Should global governance for health be global governance for capabilities?
  • Problematizing global governance - Problematizing the global vs the local
  • Increasing the inclusiveness of global governance in order to improve GG4H
  • Global Governance and a new social order 50 years from now
  • The role of youth in global governance for health

An exiting agenda and we are looking forward to hearing their results!
