– It is a pleasure to congratulate Professor Banik with his extraordinary professorship at the University of Pretoria. Professor Banik has led several large collaborations with African universities over more than a decade and has made a tremendous contribution to both teaching and research. These collaborations have been important also for SUM, as we have had a steady flow of colleagues from the Global South visiting us and engaging us in stimulating discussions. Not the least, Professor Banik has with his podcast 'In pursuit of development', and its tremendous global reach, managed to keep the development agenda alive, an agenda that for many countries in the Global South remains unfinished, says Sidsel Roalkvam.
