About the Oslo SDG Initiative

A strengthened commitment to research for sustainable development.

Building on research conducted at the University of Oslo's Centre for Development and the Environment (SUM), the Oslo SDG Initiative fosters a strengthened commitment to research for sustainable development.

In addition to long-term academic research on issues related to sustainable development, the Initiative conducts research on the transformations required for implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs.

Our research, teaching and outreach activities contribute to on-going theoretical and methodological debates, as well as provide answers and solutions to the challenges related to achieving the SDGs. Through collaboration with affiliated faculty from institutions spread across the world, the Oslo SDG Initiative also provides nuanced perspectives from both the Global North and the Global South.

The Oslo SDG Initiative is headed by Professor Dan Banik.
