Norway frequently tops global indexes on human well-being and quality of life. While it is a generous provider of funds for global development, having consistently allocated one per cent of its GNI to foreign aid, it is also a major exporter of oil and gas. This discussion will examine how international and domestic concerns influence the politics of aid and sustainable development in Norway, including how Norwegians see their role in alleviating global poverty and addressing climate disruption.

Dagfinn Høybråten is Secretary General of Norwegian Church Aid and former minister of health of Norway.

Ada Nissen is an associate professor at the Department of Archaeology, Conservation and History, University of Oslo.

Dan Banik is professor of political science and director of the Oslo SDG Initiative at the University of Oslo’s Centre for Development and the Environment.

The discussion will be recorded in front of a live audience for an episode of Dan Banik’s global podcast 🎙️ – In Pursuit of Development.
